Who Your Church Needs Before What it Needs

get right with god sign

In the last post, I identified some marks your church might be dying. There are lots of steps your church can take to deal with some of those problems., and I’ll talk about those in a forthcoming post. But before any of that, you need to make sure you’re right with God. It’s so easy to assume God’s thrilled with us, and all solutions have a scientifically rational explanation. Thus, one of the possible factors in our church’s decline we quickly skip over is the question of whether we are dishonoring the Lord.

I’m dead serious. We always assume God is with us, even in times when our attitudes, leadership sins, abuses of power and pride dishonor Him. The good news is He welcomes the repentant. He wants His church to prevail. So, for God’s sake, get right with God.

If you aren’t, nothing will work. Repent. Get desperate if you’re not. Return to Him and remember it’s His Church and we’re beyond honored to be a part of what He’s doing. If you miss the “who” your church needs, you’ll miss all the “whats,” “whens,” and “whos.”

If God isn’t with you: You can’t win.

You’re not smart enough.

You don’t have enough money to buy a win.

You don’t have enough energy to overpower Him.

You can’t try all you want…and even if it “works”…

You’ve still failed, because God wasn’t in it.

If God is for us…

You know the rest.

He is who your church needs before what it needs.
