What’s Next?

Business Odyssey 015
After Sunday evening's post, I received a lot of snail mail, email, MySpace, Facebook, and blog comments. Emily and I have been overwhelmed with the graciousness of our family, friends, fellow ministers, and church members. The leading sentiment has been one of blessing in the midst of tough times, and the leading question people seem to have is… what's next for the Spiveys?

What's next?

Well… we'll take it chronologically…

Beginning Sunday, Emily and I are leaving on a trip to explore some options on the West Coast. After that, we'll return, and field opportunities from Dallas, as God provides. We are plan to explore church ministry opportunities, Christian college opportunities, church planting opportunities, and parachurch ministry opportunities.

On June 8, we return to Highland Oaks, preach our final sermon, and have the going away party at church that night.

I will spend the summer finishing up my Doctor of Ministry degree, finishing one or more of three books I have outstanding — the 2 volumes of Jesus: the Word Made Flesh, and What the Bible Says about Money and Possessions…all to be published by the good people at College Press/HeartSpring. In the next few weeks, I'll also be sketching out a book outline for another book…more practical ministry based…based on some learnings from HOCC.

And, there will be vacations… oh yes…there will be vacations! We haven't had time to map them out…but it will involve beaches, pools, and lots of zzzzzzzzzz.

Our oldest daughter, Anna, starts kindergarten in September, so we'll be looking to land somewhere by then, Lord willing.

That's the plan. I hope God isn't in heaven laughing.

As always, He can feel free to change it. Not that He needs my permission.

  1. Tim – That’s big news. I’ll be praying for you and your family’s transition and God’s leading. If you find yourself in the LBC with a little extra time, let me know. Would love to hang.

  2. God bless you, your family, and your ministry. Just look to God for leading and follow Him. I know you have in the past and know you will continue to into the future. I know of a few churches in PA that are looking for a preacher. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your girls. God bless! Peace.
