The Night Before

01anticipation
Well, it’s about 4:30 on Saturday afternoon. As is typical, I just wrote my church checks, and am preparing to lay out tomorrow’s clothes. This Saturday night will be a bit different, I’m sure, from the normal. Tomorrow we launch the new Highland Oaks Plano campus, and I couldn’t be more excited. In truth, there is some mild anxiety over the things you might expect. On the whole, God has given me peace and the wonderful gift of anticipation.

Tomorrow at 9am, a young man named Jason Ratliff (Worship Minister/Associate Site Minister) will say something to the effect of "Good morning…good to see everyone…let’s stand and sing…" and with those words, and the first verse of Blessed Assurance, we’ll be off on a journey that none of us can grasp fully 16 hours before it begins.

At 10am in Dallas, Dr. R. Gerald Turner, President of SMU here in Dallas will deliver the message at the Dallas campus, and I’m sure he’ll do a wonderful job. He is a great man, a great disciple, and a great college president.

If you have a chance to pray for us tonight or Sunday we would greatly appreciate it.

Either tomorrow or Monday, I’ll relay the inside scoop.

Dr. Tim Spivey is Lead Planter of New Vintage Church in San Diego, California. He is the author of numerous articles and one book, "Jesus: The Powerful Servant." A sought after speaker for events, Tim also serves as Adjunct Professor of Religion at Pepperdine University. Tim serves as a church consultant, and his writings are featured on ChurchLeaders.com, Church Executive magazine, Faith Village, Sermon Central, and Giving Rocket.

  1. At least you one more week until multiple sermons begin. Next week you will be working TWO hours a week instead of one! I am sure tomorrow wil come off without a hitch.
