This afternoon I got a rare treat. I was paid a visit by a legend in missions in the Churches of Christ–Harry Robert Fox. He was a post-WWII missionary to Japan, and was instrumental in starting Ibaraki Christian college. He's known my family for 50 years, through the Long Beach Church of Christ (formerly the Uptown Church of Christ).

He's 87 now, with the energy of a 20 year-old, and is preparing to retire to Utah. Right now, he's my neighbor down here in San Diego County. How 'bout that? There's only about 55 years and a world of experience between us in age, but we're both just preachers. We had a great talk today, and it was awesome to hear a mini-sermon from Him on the Beattitudes. After preaching the gospel for 69 years, it still captivates His soul. And, I'd give anything to have the energy he has at 87 at 32.

One of many things I love about Churches of Christ is that we have some of the most amazing heroes of faith. So, I'm feeling patriotic today. I'm glad to be a member of the Churches of Christ–the fellowship that produced great missionaries, great preachers, and great people.

Good stuff.
