Pepperdine’s Coming!

The Pepperdine Bible Lectures are always one of the spiritual highlights of my year. Going back to my alma mater for such a spiritual feast is wonderful experience is only rivaled by the setting–Malibu in May.

This year, the theme is "Hear the Word of the Lord: Jeremiah’s Call to Renewal." I’m glad we’re going back to the Old Testament this year. Many Christians never seem to know what to do with the Old Testament…they are comfortable drawing inspiration from it, but not taking rebuke from it.

Anyways, this promises to be another wonderful year. Em and the girls are coming with me, so this year will have a bit more of a family bent because my load is "light" this year. I teach a class with Emily one day, with Emily and our friends Andy and Carrie Wall one day, and have the privilege of speaking at the 21st Century Christian/Power for Today luncheon.

Among the classes I’m looking forward to attending are:

  • The annual panel discussion moderated by Randy Lowery and including Prentice Meador , "Come to the Table, but Come as You Are–Responding to the Evangelical Invitation "
  • "Take Care of Your Ministers: Using Effective Strategies to Care for Your Ministers and Encourage them to Practice Good Self-Care Habits"
  • Day 1 of the class Em and I are teaching…which will be taught by Andy and Carrie Wall, "Life in the Fish Bowl–Thriving as a Family in Ministry."

As usual, Jerry Rushford as put together a wonderful spiritual feast for us all. If you can’t make it this year…you have to go next year. Click here for the full scoop on this year’s program.
