Peace on Earth

On Wednesday nights this December, North County is heading out into the community to serve in lieu of our traditional assembly and classes. We’re doing this in conjunction with the current message series, Peace on Earth. I’m curious what some of your churches are doing. What are you all up to here at the holidays?

  1. Sunday sermon series for December – “God In A Box” using the imagery of a Christmas present (box) and how giving to others is being and bringing Jesus to them. We have selected 3 community organizations (1 per week) and are collecting items for them to stash on our stage in a huge wrapped box (week one – laundry soap and bleach for the local homeless shelter, week two – diapers and wipes for the Women’s Center of NW Indiana, etc.) Then, committing to pray for them and volunteering in any way that week after we deliver the goods.
Hopefully we will get a good feel for some community organization that we can adopt on a more permanent basis and work with them throughout the year.
Not some earth shattering idea, but pretty cool for us.
