Mean and Non-Mean

Here’s a wonderful thought from a podcast with Harvard’s own Martin Marty–one of the good guys…in my opinion…

"I’ve often thought — I’ve often said, ‘If Billy Graham had been born
mean, we’d be in terrible trouble,’ because he had so much power, so
many gifts, and so on. One of my distinctions in religion is not
liberal and conservative, but mean and non-mean. You have mean liberals
and mean conservatives, and you have non-mean of both."

Dr. Tim Spivey is Lead Planter of New Vintage Church in San Diego, California. He is the author of numerous articles and one book, "Jesus: The Powerful Servant." A sought after speaker for events, Tim also serves as Adjunct Professor of Religion at Pepperdine University. Tim serves as a church consultant, and his writings are featured on ChurchLeaders.com, Church Executive magazine, Faith Village, Sermon Central, and Giving Rocket.

  1. You are so right! It’s not about what position you take on different issues. It’s about the heart and mercy of Christ with which you deliver those “opinion”.
