Derek Redmond – a Father’s Love

This story never gets old to me.

Derek Redmond ran for Great Britain in the 1992 Barcelona games. He was the favorite to win the 400m dash until he tears his hamstring in the middle of the race…and tries to continue limping through. His father comes out of the stands and puts his arm around his boy, who breaks down on his shoulder. They finish the race together. Great story of perseverance through pain, our need for God, and love between father and child.

“And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” ” (Galatians 4:6)

  1. Thanks…that video made me think of how scripture instructs us to bear the burdens of others. When we see our brother or sister in Christ struggling, will we be there to help them stay the course?
