June 10-12 on the campus of Pepperdine University, a hidden jewel of a conference will take place. I'm trying to "unhide" it. The Family of Faith Network Conference, sponsored by Pepperdine's Boone Center for the Family brings together a fine collection of today's marriage and family experts on a variety of topics. Norm Wright, Francis Chan, Ken Canfield, Ron Deal, Emerson Eggerichs, Hal Runkel and others just to name a few. The conference is intimate, and the setting is the beauty of Malibu. The conference substance is marvelous. After last year's conference, I felt convicted that we and most other churches I know can do much better at helping cultivate healthy Christian families. Our ministries need much better integration. If nothing else, you'll also leave taking a good look at your own family and appreciating what God has given you in new ways. Good stuff.
As an aside, Emily and I will serve on a panel with our friends Andy and Carrie Wall and Jack and Tami Williamson to talk about "Life in the Fishbowl," and I've been asked to repeat my class from last year, "The Clothesline: Family Life as a Spiritual Discipline." If you are within driving distance of Pepperdine, you definitely need to make this…or send your family life ministry people. If you're not, I believe it's worth getting on a plane for. If you can't make it…pressure your elders to send someone 🙂
