3 and 4

Today is Olivia’s 3rd birthday. She’s my youngest. For some reason, my kids birthdays are reminding me that:

1. I’m getting older
2. They’ll be all grown up soon.
3. I hope they go to Pepperdine.
4. I don’t really care if they’re successful by worldly standards. I do care if they grow up to be faithful Christians for whom Christ is everything.
5. I hope that, if they must marry, I like the guy and he treats them right. He better……..or……

  1. 5. Be the kind of fella you want them to marry and pray a lot.
    4. You jumped up a little more in my esteem right now.
    3. May they both infuriate you by being WILDCATS!
2.You have some great times ahead. Take advantage of them and enjoy them.
    1. Getting older happens.

  2. 32? 32??!! Quit your whining you young, wet behind the ears, inexperienced whipper snapper. Depressed about what? Being in your prime? Marginally good looking? At a great church? A beautiful wife and family? You’re right. I’d be depressed, too.
Hey, happy birthday. I hope you have a great one. Mine’s Saturday. You want to be depressed? Try hitting 44.

  3. As man treads the earth and tries to find peace,
His heart sings a song, “Oh where do I cease?
His life is so empty – no love and no rest
To comfort his soul, for he is not blest.
As he searches for peace in his worldly way,
He turns to his money, but wealth does not pay.
He worries and worries over things he must do,
He sees not an answer, he is so very blue.
The Lord up above with love sits and waits.
If only he would turn to the heavenly gates.
Sending the message to man here below,
God gives him a chance to live and to know.
Learning of God’s love and Christ’s outstretched hand,
Man’s soul reaches out for the promised land.
Man listens attentive to God’s every will.
It tells him a plan for him to fulfill.
    His life is completed; his heart is at rest;
His soul now finds comfort, for he is so blest.
Now man treads the earth in obedience and love,
Doing the Lord’s will for a home up above.
